Barry, his friends and our latest donors

Mr Barry Painter

A big thank you today from us all to Barry Painter and all his friends from the Beeches Bar and Grill for their very generous donation towards the fuel bill.

The kindness of strangers, friends, colleagues and family cannot be underestimated. The transition from our former life as experienced farmers into our new lives as fundraisers and campaigners has been thrust upon us by the unwelcome diagnosis of Jon’s terminal kidney cancer, and a burning desire to prevent others from finding themselves in a similar situation.

In our long farming careers we hosted numerous school visits, opened the farm annually to around two thousand visitors, sought assistance and sponsorship when we needed it, took photographs and wrote about it afterwards. We never imagined that these hard won skills would be the pre-curser to the Facing Up 2 Kidney Cancer Campaign.

We do not take anything about this campaign or any donation for granted. Our story is not unique, there are many thousands of kidney cancer sufferers in the UK and worldwide. However we are now sharing our story on this website, on Facebook, and Twitter while working to implement changes for the future of kidney cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Every week wThank_you_pinnede do our best to thank every single donor and list their name on this website from an Anonymous £2 text to the £1000 to cover fuel costs from Barry and his friends. Everyone is thanked individually – the donations and sponsorship mean that much to us. So if you haven’t seen your name and you think you’ve donated, especially by text please check that you sent the right code (JBKC55 £3 or £amount) to the right number (70070). images

More thanks tonight to our latest  wonderful donors from the Just Giving page: Carvel Smith, Hinckley Triumph Owners Club, Sheila Kelly, Michael Mottram, a farmer from the Fens and the terrific Lyonshall Coffee Morning Crew who with their customers raised £100 plus gift aid on Saturday.

Thank you to everyone, we couldn’t do it without you, we really couldn’t. We’ve a long way to go too, so please if you haven’t donated please do so after you’ve read this. There are lots of ways to help on this page or just Text JBKC55 £3, or £5 or £10 to 70700
