Jon at Blackpool – June 6th 2015

Things have been a tad hectic at Tracy Island as we de-briefed after Stage 1, and now prepare for Stage 2 – Scotland, the longest of the 5 stages which starts in Berwick upon Tweed on 4th July

Today’s roll call of thank you’s is huge as we try very hard not to overlook anyone who has helped us by donating or supporting Jon along the way, or both. We are really so grateful for each and every bit of help and encouragement as it really is a huge challenge for Jon and also for Sarah as ‘the crew’.

Jon & Sarah with the Mayor and Mayoress of Blackpool and Daniel Whiston

Firstly, a big thank you to The Mayoress and Mayor of Blackpool -Peter and Maxine Callow, David Cam Under Sheriff of the County Palatine of Lancaster, Dancing on Ice skater Daniel Whiston, and all the friends family, bikers and supporters who came along to wish us well with the ride with a special mention to Malcolm Packer from the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer for all his help in arranging the start. It was such a shame it was a Force 7 gale on the day, we had sand in almost every crevice and no crowd to cheer Jon off owing to the inclement weather. Jon was still crunching sand between his teeth at bedtime!

Jon wants to keep up the momentum and asks: “Please could I ask anyone who is interested in what we are doing, to think how they can use their own networks to help raise awareness and funds in order that we can ensure more people survive the disease.”
